Appeal against a Medical Outcome of Ill-Health Retirement
Has your employer or the pension scheme administrator rejected your application for ill-health retirement, and are you considering an appeal against the outcome?
If you wish to appeal against the outcome of your ill-health retirement application, generally, you will be expected to provide further medical evidence to support your appeal. You can seek a medical report from your GP and/or hospital specialist for this purpose, but a comprehensive and specific occupational health report from an independent consultant occupational physician is likely to be more valuable and will help you decide on whether to proceed with an appeal application.
Our consultant occupational physician has extensive knowledge and experience of various pension schemes and their ill-health retirement and appeal processes. We will
-
review the available medical evidence, including medical and occupational health reports,
-
carefully analyse the reasons given by the scheme's medical advisor for not supporting your ill-health retirement application.
-
arrange an occupational health consultation and
-
provide an expert report.
The report may strengthen your appeal and/or help you to consider whether to appeal against the outcome. Please refer to our terms and conditions for this service.
Here is some brief information on a few common pension schemes - the list is not exhaustive.
