Appeal against the Ill-Health Retirement Decision
Has your employer or the pension scheme administrator rejected your application for ill-health retirement, and are you considering an appeal against the outcome?

The appeal process can be complex, daunting and stressful. Typically, additional medical evidence will be required to support your case. While you may obtain a medical report from your GP or hospital specialist for this purpose, a comprehensive and specific occupational health report from an independent consultant occupational physician, addressing the specific ill-health retirement criteria/rules, is often more likely to be advantageous to the outcome of your appeal.
Our consultant occupational physician has extensive knowledge and experience of various pension schemes, their ill-health retirement criteria and appeal process.
We will
-
review the available evidence, including medical and occupational health reports,
-
carefully analyse the reasons given by the scheme's medical advisor for not supporting your ill-health retirement application,
-
arrange an occupational health consultation and
-
provide an independent report.
The report may strengthen your appeal or help you consider whether to appeal against the outcome. Please refer to our terms and conditions for this service.
