Step One – Preliminary enquiry

 

Once you complete a self-referral questionnaire, we will contact you to explain the process, which will help you decide whether our service is suitable for your needs.

Step Two – Decide on whether to proceed with self-referral

If you decide to proceed with the self-referral, please let us know the total number of pages of supporting documents that you intend to submit to us. Once we receive this information, we will advise you on our fee for the service, which depends on the reason for the self-referral and time needed to review the supporting evidence.

Generally, medical letters and reports from your GP, hospital specialist(s) and occupational health giving information on diagnosis, investigation outcomes, treatment received so far and future treatment plan, and prognosis, etc of your health conditions are likely to be relevant. If a self-referral is in relation to an ill-health retirement (IHR) appeal, your IHR outcome report is also relevant. We cannot provide more specific advice on which documents may or may not be relevant to our assessment until our doctor has had a chance to review them (see Step Three below).

Step Three – Payment and submission of paperwork/documents

If you agree to proceed, we will email our invoice. Once we receive your payment by bank transfer, we will send you a link to our online secure document portal where you can upload the supporting documents. 

 

A consultant occupational physician will review those documents. If they are incomplete, we will contact you to request the missing information. If you submit additional paperwork/documents, an additional fee will be applicable, which will need to be paid before a consultation appointment.

We don’t accept credit cards or similar online payments.  We’re not obliged to provide the Service until you’ve paid the amount due and received a written confirmation from us of your payment (Confirmation Email).

Step Four: Assessment

​

We will coordinate a remote (video) consultation appointment with the consultant occupational physician. During the consultation, the doctor will explain to you the purpose and process of assessment and reporting, undertake an occupational health assessment and discuss their recommendations. 

 

Step Five: Reporting

​

Following the consultation, the doctor will produce their comprehensive report giving an overview of relevant health conditions and occupational health recommendations. If the referral is for ill-health retirement assessment or appeal, the report will also provide comprehensive analysis and advice on the ill-health retirement criteria of your pensions scheme.

We will send you a draft report to review. If there are any factual errors, we will correct them, finalise the report and send you a signed final report. 

​

If you provide additional evidence after receiving our draft report, there will be an additional fee for every further 25 pages (or part thereof) to review the new evidence and incorporate it into our report, either by amending it or producing an addendum.
