Occupational Physician Service for Self Employed / Contractors
About 15% i.e. 4.8 million individuals are self-employed or work as a contractor in the UK and the number of self-employed people is growing rapidly each year e.g. construction workers, hairdressers, employees in a hospitality sector etc - the 'gig' economy. We are mindful of their occupational health needs and also provide service to them. Self-employed can self-referral and access the following services:
Assessment of fitness for work or fitness to return to work after a period of sickness absence
Routine medicals such as a driver's medical, safety-critical medical or forklift truck medical
Health surveillance such as hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) assessment
Ill-health retirement assessment under a private pensions/income protection scheme
COVID-19 and Occupational Health assessments
We continue to do occupational health assessments and health surveillance using health questionnaires and remote (telephone or video) consultations during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We have also resumed limited face-to-face clinics at Lincoln, Mansfield, Nottingham and Sheffield and referrals for face-to-face consultations will be assessed on a case by case basis.
