Pre-employment or placement medical and advice on fitness for work

The purpose of pre-employment health or pre-placement occupational health screening is to collect relevant health information about a prospective new employee and assist in the following ways:


  • Assess the candidate’s medical capability to do the job for which they have applied, which will include assessing whether there are any health and safety or legal reasons why an individual may not be able to carry out particular work.

  • Determine whether any reasonable adjustments may be required to accommodate any disability or medical impairment which a candidate may have.

  • Ensure that none of the job activities will adversely affect any pre-existing health conditions the candidate has declared.

  • Recommend the need to have health surveillance to prevent work-related ill-health.


The Pre-Employment Health Screening can be questionnaire-based and In-person depending on the nature of job role, work environment and other relevant factors.
